Today I’m taking you behind the scenes of a recent photoshoot that took place at Riggo Productions Studio. A huge shoutout to Torrey, the owner, for letting us use the space – it was the perfect location for our creative vision. It takes a village, and this shoot wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible talent and collaboration of everyone involved.
Building the Vision and Bringing it to Life:
First things first, the amazing stylist Chernisse Butcher took the lead on creating the mood board. She scoured Pinterest for inspiration, capturing the essence of what we wanted to achieve. This “masculine meets androgynous” theme resonated deeply with me, and Chernisse translated it beautifully through her vision board, which she shared with the entire team via email. With the vision set, Chernisse found the perfect pieces at Zara. We had a fitting before the shoot to ensure everything fit flawlessly. Chernisse also steamed all the clothes on the day of the shoot.
Meet the Crew:
Maeion, the talented makeup artist, prepped my skin for the natural makeup look we were going for. Derrika Baughman, our photographer, took care of the lighting and backdrops, creating a seamless environment to capture stunning images. Big thanks to Ian and Brendan, our amazing PAs, who helped out throughout the day, including opening and closing the studio.
Basketball Love:
One of my favorite parts of the shoot involved incorporating a basketball into the poses. As someone who’s played all my life, it felt really natural to hold the ball and have it captured through Derrika’s lens. Speaking of lenses, a special shoutout to Torrey for letting us use his camera – it played a big role in the final look and feel of the photos.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work:
Chernisse kept a watchful eye on my outfit throughout the shoot, ensuring everything stayed perfectly styled. Maeion did touch-ups during the shoot for a flawless look. Derrika captured so many amazing shots! I loved the variety, with some focusing on beauty and others showcasing the androgynous suit styling. Derrika even captured some great behind-the-scenes (BTS) photos that perfectly capture the vibe of the shoot. It was definitely a collaborative effort, and the positive energy of the entire team made the entire experience incredibly rewarding.
The Journey Continues:
This shoot was a great way to build my portfolio as I strive towards my goal of signing with a modeling agency. one day. But for now, I’m excited to keep building my portfolio with more shoots like this. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
